Teamleader was officially founded in July 2012 by Jeroen De Wit with Willem Delbare and Mathias De Loore. The company, however, can trace its origins much earlier. During Jeroen and Willem’s school years they formed a web design firm. Eventually, a customer requested project management components, and the trio began to build an application with the intention to license it to customers.
By Easter 2012, the first Teamleader code was written. The company then grew from a highly customer-centric philosophy. The CRM module, for instance, was built strictly based on customer feedback. Once Teamleader began to take shape, funding was raised through three consecutive funding rounds (Seed round, Series A and Series B).
New offices were opened in Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid. More will follow soon. Teamleader has won a number of national and international awards, such as the Next Web HenQ prize and Tech Startup of the Year 2015. A full rebranding and redesign took both the tool and the company to a new level.
In the future, Teamleader will continue to incorporate CRM, project management and invoicing into one simple and intelligent tool that helps businesses work smarter. But a lot has happened since three guys founded a web design company, and a lot more will.
